Poem No. 1
by: Max Hidalgo
In her eyes is a world devoid of trust, patience, and humility.
In his, is a universe filled with lust, madness, and angst.
Both, are lost souls, sailing the stormy seas—
Trying to free themselves from their own shackles and chains.
There, in the ocean of confusion,
Two blurred images collided like a roaring sound that of thunder.
What could they do? What should they do?
But to let the time and tide take their souls ashore
—gaze at each other’s eyes,
Until he finds his way in the once hollow place,
And she clears the once cluttered house,
Of unsettling memories, keeping only those of hers.
